But the Carole mantel clock has a unique backstory that brings a mid-century modern design forward from the past. It started with a routine trip to an antique store. Old clocks can often be found among the dusty shelves. That day a classic tambour style clock stood out - begging to be taken home.
For generations Hermle has supplied many clock companies with the movements to power their clocks - since 1922 in fact! The antique clock indeed had a Hermle movement inside - while the company who produced the case had been lost to time.
The 1960's design of the old clock had an unmistakable art deco feel. Was this retro vibe worth reviving? We decided to take a chance! The beat up old clock was sent off to our German headquarters and it became our newest muse. A new star was born!
Carole is also unique in that it comes with either quartz or mechanical movements - with the quartz featuring Westminster or Bim Bam chimes. It also comes in a dark Walnut or Light Cherry wood finish.
